Persian Language

I never did a research, but from the first day I learn to speak farsi, i found some farsi words that similar to malay language that makes me think, there is a persian root in malay language. And today I found the proof.

Look on the right side bar to see the similar words that I found til today.

Farsi Milestones

Internet in office was really bad lately. I complained several times to sps but seems no action taken. Well, it's a normal thing in the university after almost a decade I'm here. I don't know when the uni especially this unit (sps) want to upgrade its service. Forget it..I'm used to it already. Bcause of the slow speed of internet today, I got pissed off and turned off the computer. I saw in the corner of my table one small book that I left there from the 1st day I enter that office and didn't even open it. It's a english-persian dictionary which I bought from Iran last 3 years. 1000 toman. I randomly opened its pages and try to read the words. There are also basic sentences like greetings and others that are useful for tourists. I was shocked that I can read the farsi words (in farsi alphabets) and every page that I opened there are english words that i can translate to farsi. I kind of proud of myself. Well who else want to praise me right? I never thought that I can arrive to this milestones. I learned without a formal learning. I did this all by myself. Now I really want to master my writings and spellings because somehow in farsi what we pronounce is not same as what is written. For example. I go is beram but to write it is be-ra-vam. It's quite hard for me. I'll learn it slowly. My weakness is that if I try to read a farsi written article I get easily fedup because somehow I cant understand what the meaning of the words. So I dont know whether it's correct or not. Anyhow, 'dont despair and never lose hope'-maher zain I will master it soon or later.

Mosaferi Az Hend مسافری از هند

I am on my way to finish this serial drama. Mosaferi Az Hend (Passenger from India). Every night before sleep I watch 1 episode. Currently I'm on the 11th. However I found out that IranSerial (the one who uploaded the videos) missed episode 10. At first I thought IranSerial wrongly put the title as ghesmat 11 bejaye 10. However when I watched ghesmat 11, all of Ramin's family members already knew that Mansour is still alive whereby in episode 9 Ramin just got to know that news from Farzad and hasn't tell his family. Also in ghesmat 11 Sita was not at Ramin's house but at Daei Jalal's house. When she moved there? I've commented about this on the page but no answer from the admin. I hope Ididn't miss any best part in ghesmat 10.

Sita reciting poem

I wanted to watch this serial long time ago but that time my farsi was not so good that I couldn't understand much. Now, I think I can understand 90% of the conversation in the drama (there's no english subtitles). What's more interesting is that Sita, Indian girl that came to Iran with Ramin is not a farsi speaker (in reality she is Iranian). In the drama she speaks farsi slowly as if she is still learning and I took the opportunity to learn too :) Some new sentences I learn: Doshmanet sharmandeh, azat yek khahesh daram, niki o porsesh.

Side story: A Tunisian girl sent me link which they share my video speaking farsi. :)

Farsi and Azreen

After I uploaded some videos of me speak farsi in youtube, i received several messages relating issues such as how I learn Farsi. Some of them are beginners and asked my advice. Frankly, my farsi is not very good. Sometimes Iranian couldn't understand what I had said. I just can speak basic words. When it comes to formal farsi dialogue I hardly understand it. I am not a polygat like Tim the teenager that can speak 20 languages. I learned farsi just because my bf is Iranian. And for now I have no intention to learn other language.

However, I still share my methods of learning farsi. All are through informal learning. My most source is through entertainment such as songs, movie, videos and anything that is fun. I started with basic words; numbers, animals, words that we're using on daily basis. I wrote it down, memorized and most important is practice. Internet really helped me. There are lots of online farsi learning websites, dictionaries and translator. In future I really want to go to formal farsi class. I think it will speed up my skills especially in reading and writing.

So for those beginner farsi learner, good luck and never give up because farsi is a really beautiful language.

Adapted Irani - being okhdeii

It's weekend!! It means meeting khanavadeh (family) specifically nieces and nephews. Every weekend's  event. Today we went kharid (buy) for household things..then i asked niece what do you wana eat for dinner? She wants kuew tiaw goreng. Fried rice noodles. At first i wanted to cook penang style, the watery style. But then i forgot to buy prawn to make the sauce. So i just cooked the simple version. Maybe i'll up an entry for the recipe later. Because this time i wana talk about becoming irani.

Actually i was pissed off with one chinese girl. I stumbled upon her facebook through mypersiankitchen. As always, i stalked her. :) you know i like the fact that she's learning farsi as well as trying to be persian. But i found that she is over reacted to be irani. Why i said that is because one of her post said something like this "maleziyaei kheng! Hame malayi  bishoore". The first sentence she wrote in her post means "dumb malaysian". But then after some comments she wrote the second sentence which literally means "all malays are rude". What she actually wanted to say? Is it referred to malaysian or malay? Does she knows the different between those two words? She claimed herself 80% irani. But how come she have confusion here? Another comment she wrote "man az malezi montaneferam" which means i hate malaysia. Hello dokhtar age shoma az malezi montaneferi boro gomsho az inja! (Get lost from here). Later i realized that the sentences that she wrote i ever heard before and it came from iranian. Are you trying to say that you are already 100% irani to say something like that. I have no problem with "real iranian" to have saying that because i know the difference between iran and malaysia, because i've been there. But then you girl, have you ever been there?  Pasho dige (wake up) and swallow that you are still chinese malaysian and you can never be iranian. Step on your ground babe! Stop saying that you love to be iranian. It is just becoz your bf is iranian. If your bf is pakistani, maybe now you are learning urdu and trying to hate people who are skeptical with pakistani who sells carpet.

My message to her: khahareman, basse dige. Enghad khodetun jelo irania okhdei nakon. Midunam kheili dustari irani beshi. Mesle man. Raahe dorosabi boro. Hatman duspesaret dustare shoma harfe ba adab bezani. Mikhay irani beshi na bayad chiziayo bad ham bokoni. Vaghan man khoshalam bebinam shoma farsi ham baladi. Behet eftekhar mikonam. Ba ayandat movafagh beshid!

Ok. Thats all. It is a reminder to myself also. Even though thousands time my bff said he is proud of me to learn to be persian and he wants me to be truely persian, i said i can never leave my roots. I will always be a malay. And i will never say something offensive to my roots and country. that is bishoor. My purpose of learning is to make things more comfortable, to shrink the difference and to understand each other more.

Khaleh va Khahar Zadeh

Being the last child is nice. Apart from getting lots of intentions from older brothers and sisters and parents, I am so happy to be growing up with my nieces and nephews. They are my friends, they give me happiness and never hurt me. I tried to treat them as they are my children. As long as I can, I will try to provide the best for them. Every time when sorrow hit me, they always cheered me up. They are always there for me.

When they asked me
"When Maksu (the title of youngest aunty) want to marry?",
I always replied "If I married, who wana take you out? Who wana buy you this and that? If my husband take me far from here, you won't miss me?"
Then they said "Oh please maksu, don't marry". Hehe.

Today we went to eat outside, in car I teased Putri (17 years old) "Come I wana kiss you"
She said "Ewwwwww"
I replied "Why cant I? Since small I kiss you." But seriously I dont wana kiss her. hehe

Remember my last post about Izzati? She is really into everything that I am doing. She learns Farsi too. So, this time I recorded Farsi practice video with her. Enjoy..

*update 6/3/2013
- a friend of mine (Ms Sheida) translated for me the meaning of kadkhoda.
In Iran there are 14 volume of comprehensive dictionary. A man name Mr Dehkhoda has written and compiled all of it. The name of compilation is لغت-نامه دهخدا (pronounce laghat - nameh dehkhoda), which means the dictionary words of Dehkhoda.
Later on, a brilliant Iranian opened a facebook page with name غلط نامه کدخدا (pronounce ghalat nameh kadhoda) which means the wrong words of "leader of village"

Third Farsi Video: My Journey

Haha. Funny thumbnail. Ayo, Youtube could you give a more appropriate thumbnail? This is is the best among 3. Pity me.

So, this is my 3rd video uploaded. I talked about my experience with Iranian foods. Also, there is a post at Malezitarin about this. Enjoy and have a great Monday!

Ghorbune Zaban-e Farsi Besham

Monday blues in the air..Is there really a monday blues for me or naturally monday blues is inside me??Haha.
Tomorrow I have meeting with sv, hopefully everything will be fine and i can speed up my writings. Ok leave study aside or my wrinkles getting worst :p, now I am going to tell what happened today that has killed my monday blues.

Yesterday I uploaded second video on youtube about my journey in learning farsi. Somebody has found it and spread the news at malezitarin.com. Afterwards, my video rating increased. I received some responses about the way I speak farsi which is good for me to improve my farsi. Most of them are positive thoughts and also negative comments as such they thought I wanna show off. Well, I am not that kind of person who will go here and there to show what I have. I am sharing the video at first place is for my reference in the future because for me the experience of learning farsi, persian culture and anything related to iran will not come to everyone. I categorised myself as being lucky because I am not forced to learn but it came from my heart coincidently after I met bff. That is why I want to documented it so in the future I can flashback and see this beautiful journey.

What happened today has motivated me to learn more and I hope this is my stepping stone to impress myself of my capabilities. Till then, keep moving peeps and you'll learn something!

Bff corrected me; singer mishe khanande na khanandaye :)

Speaking Farsi my way..

Hello again..life has been so tired for me nowadays. It's not that I did lots of thing, but because there are lots of thing to be done, especially in research. The 3rd semester has finished but I havent defense my proposal. Blame on my laziness. Last 3 days bff told me about a research done to discover the most lazy nation in world and Malaysia is on 10th place over 100++. Haha. Yes I admit that :) Every end of day, I will put aim that tomorrow I'll work more, but in the end of the day, nothing! I just wish that miracle will happen to my life. Yeah, I know theres no such miracle without efforts. Let see what tomorrow will happen ok.

I dont want to talk about study. That will make my wrinkles worst. haha. I wanna share about my passion in learning Persian language aka farsi. I've started last 4++ years since I met bff. And until now, I am still learning. But what Ive been learned up to now are all informal. I prefer to go class so that I can speak better farsi. Also I am still very weak in reading and writing farsi. I really hope to enrol in farsi class but there is no class available in JB, and not sure in KL. Learning from internet is not as good as 2 ways learning in class. I think my progress until now is not good. I can understand when people talking maybe around 70% but there are lots of vocabulary that I dont know yet.

I've came out of an idea to record my journey in learning farsi. It is for my reference later to see how my farsi progress over time. Thus, I recorded my first video in farsi and uploaded it on youtube.

I know my farsi is not good. It was not easy to record video of myself speaking farsi. I think my farsi is better when I do conversation with someone. I have to edit and cut some parts. However, I still think I am good (who will praise if not myself right :)..

Maybe I will continue to record video in farsi. At least I can see how myself look like when speaking farsi.
OK thats all for now. Be omide didar..khodahafez

Good Song for Farsi Learner

When I was small, I used to learn things' name from picture dictionary. Now, I can learn Farsi through Youtube song. Credits to the genius song editor, your name is Afshin Razi right? It is fun and make me laugh :-))
Each photo will show the meaning of the words sing. So, the learning process is - hear - repeat - look.

By the way this is the original video clip. The song titile is Vay ke Che Halie by Amir Tataloo ft Ardalan Tomeh.

Happy Learning!

Advantage of Understanding Other Languages

Do you ever came out from elevator smiling and laughing to yrself? Its very funny when we approach some funny incidents inside the elevator and keep it in yr tummy coz u have to stop yrself from laughing in order to respect other passengers and to cover the related persons from shame. And what if u have to cover your anger when u heard somebody's talking stink about u in different language inside the elevator?

Yes, I did face these 2 situations. The funny and the anger. The last time, in my university. This one Ir***** cum my ex-classmate girl said bad about me with one Ir**** boy in persian language. It was only 4 level to go down, I have to control my mouth and ting! level 1...i fight the words back. haha :DD very satisfied u know. You see, 1st advantage, U can fight back and give shame back to and laugh back to her!!

The second situation i faced it frequently. When I enter elevator with other persons that speak other language than me who i can understand the language (what language else i can understand, Persian). They will speak to themselves not about me and sometimes about me but funny like this:

A: Last night i went to B house and suddenly she fart silently.
B: Ok..I will say later.
A: Why? She can understand? (pointing mouth to me)
B: Urm..urm..
(Conversation has been changed from real)

Dont you think this is funny?? Haha. Well, u see, the advantage that i think are cool to share. Many others. So, lets learn other languages especially when u have to involve yrself with people from other races speaking different languages.

Ok..thats all..i need to change and off to changi to fetch somebody from Iran. Will tell u what souvenir they will give! (^o,^). TA!
